IMPAKT vs Twitch Predictions: what is the difference?
Twitch Predictions let viewers wager channel points on a question the streamer resolves by hand. IMPAKT predictions are YES/NO markets with cash out, a countdown drawn into the video, and settlement from the game's own data. IMPAKT also pays the streamer 25 per cent of the coins spent, and works on Kick.
How do Twitch Predictions work?
According to Twitch's developer documentation and guides:
- The streamer creates a prediction with a title and 2 to 10 outcomes.
- Viewers wager channel points on one outcome during a betting window.
- The streamer or a moderator picks the winning outcome. Winners share the pool, and losing points are forfeited.
- Only one prediction runs at a time.
- Channel points have no cash value, and they are earned by watching.
Twitch's official documentation lists Predictions as a feature for Affiliates and Partners. Check Twitch's help pages for the current limits on betting time and eligibility.
Predictions are free, built in, and familiar to every Twitch viewer. For a quick question in chat, they are a good tool.
Where does IMPAKT differ?
| Twitch Predictions | IMPAKT | |
|---|---|---|
| Currency | Channel points, earned by watching | IMPAKT coins, 100 coins = 1 US dollar when bought, plus daily free coins |
| Who decides the result | The streamer or a moderator | The game's own state (match data, events) |
| Round types | Prediction | Votes, predictions with cash out, bets on the round, bids for actions |
| Streamer revenue | None directly | 25 per cent of coins spent, plus 40 per cent of the house share |
| Platforms | Twitch | Twitch chat bot (extension in review), Kick app, bot and live page |
The biggest difference is trust. When a CS2 round ends, IMPAKT reads the result from Valve's Game State Integration. The streamer does not have to be believed.
Which should I choose?
Use Twitch Predictions for casual questions that cost nothing to run. Use IMPAKT when you want rounds that settle on their own, repeat every match or hand, and earn a share for the channel.
